July Newsletter 🥳 🤓
Hello everyone, long time no see! 👋
Yes, yes, I know, I’m late with the July newsletter 🫣 but trust me, it’s been a whirlwind of a summer. So buckle up, because I’m taking you through it all, from programs and projects to beaches and Oxford adventures.
🧠 Startup Vibes & Teamwork Goals
Let’s start with HUVTSP, which was such a great learning experience. I got to explore how startups are born, scaled, or sometimes, well, collapse 😅. Hopefully, I’ll be able to use what I learned when I’m building my own startup one day!
Our team was amazing 💼💬 and we created a fantastic presentation on how to level up TouchPoint Legal using strategic partnerships and tools like Slack. Super proud of what we built together!
💻 Code, Capstones, & Girl Power
I also wrapped up Kode With Klossy, and wow, it was SO much fun 💖👩💻. I met so many smart, passionate girls who are into tech just like me. We learned HTML, CSS, JS, played games with our IAs, and worked on a capstone project.
Our project was all about nutrition 🥦🍓, click on a fruit or veggie, and boom, an info box tells you how it helps your health. So simple, but super informative. I loved working with my group (picture coming below 📸) and presenting it at the end felt like a mini launch day.

🔬 Research, Research, and… more Research
Okay, okay, the updates above were fun, but truthfully, most of my summer has been deep in research mode 🧪. I was part of the NonTrivial Research Fellow program, and I built a web app for neurological disorder detection. Here's what it can do:
🧠 Detect brain tumors (2D/3D)
🧠 Identify strokes from both 2D scans and symptom-based predictions
🧠 Detect Alzheimer’s (2D/3D)
🧠 Predict multiple sclerosis from symptoms
The techy part (skip if your eyes glaze over 😅):
I used XRAI for 2D explainability
Gradient saliency maps + Gaussian smoothing for 3D Alzheimer’s detection
SHAP for MS and stroke predictions
Plus, it flags bias in Alzheimer’s detection (especially age-related), which I thought was a super important touch.
I’ll be sharing my presentation video below, so if you’re curious, definitely check it out!
📝 Publishing Adventures
This project turned into multiple research papers because there was so much to unpack. I’ve been writing and submitting them separately to ensure clarity and reproducibility.
🥳 Our Brain Tumor Detection (2D/3D) paper is already published, and the peer review process was actually super encouraging. The fact that the reviewers specifically highlighted the novelty and impact of our approach, which made all those long nights worth it.
The rest are in different stages, some awaiting reviewer feedback, others waiting to find their perfect journal match 💌.
🌍 Oxford & Summer Bliss
I’ve also been preparing for the Rise Residential Summit, and yes, I’m now writing this from Oxford 🏛️🇬🇧! But you'll have to wait a bit longer for the details. I’ll tell you all about it in the August newsletter, so stay tuned!
Outside of the academic hustle, I carved out some time to just live,
🏖️ swimming in the sea
🛍️ browsing local shops
🌊 soaking up the seaside vibe
Sharing some photos below to spread the summer energy 📷💙

I know this one was on the shorter side, but August is already shaping up to be packed with stories, updates, and reflections. So I’ll see you again very soon with the Rise Summit edition of this newsletter!
Until then,
🌞 Stay curious & take care ❤️!
